Virtual Production Supervisor
Bailey has consistently been recognised for his innovative, high-value, highly efficient approach to production, and specifically his innovative virtual production methods using a huge range of technologies, both on-set and in the cloud.
Through his UK company, On Set Facilities, Bailey is routinely hired by Producers worldwide to design, install, and support robust virtual production environments, both real and cloud based. In this capacity Bailey has worked with DreamWorks, UNBC Universal, Universal Pictures, and the ARRI Systems Groups among many others.
It’s worth noting that Bailey’s GODBOX™ computers currently power ARRI studios in Munich and are sold by ARRI to support virtual production producers globally.
He is in high-demand as a VP Supervisor, DOP, speaker and presenter, having delivered workshops for the Directors Guild of America and at MIPS, Bailey sits on the board of Advisers of both the DAVE VFX School and the Studio UK Working Group.
In 2020, he also served as Virtual Production Supervisor and 2nd Unit Director on Ian Livingstone’s Deathtrap Dungeon. Also In 2020 he directed a global TV campaign using his remote cloud production methods for GSK, orchestrating crew and clients from all over the world to shoot remotely at a COVID-19 secure sound stage in Europe.
Bailey started his career in software engineering at 20 and within a decade was writing and producing high concept VFX content. His credit turning point from tech to entertainment being winning a BBC script writing competition in 2005, Directing sketches for Comic Relief.
In 2016, Bailey found himself bringing his first proprietary VFX hardware and software solutions with him to set. Delivering real-time pre-visualisation on green / blue screens, with tracked cameras, virtual simulcams and LED dynamic lighting, Bailey’s work enables every department to work in both the real and virtual world, so that cast and crew can immerse themselves in fully visualised CG worlds.
Many of Bailey’s early VFX experiments turned into viral videos that, by 2010, had earned over 400M views. During his early years Bailey was actively recruited by a wide variety of production companies to create original content, eventually leading to a fulltime position as VFX Director for Draw Pictures producing commercials, music videos, film, and other content, leading to Bailey directing VFX shots in Hong Kong with Jackie Chan.
Now regarded as a pioneer of real-time production both on-set and in the cloud, Bailey has come full circle, combining his tech development skills with over a decade of on-set production experience.
When not on the road, Bailey lives with his family in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales happily developing new pipelines and testing state-of-the-art technologies.
